Notes from paul.

  1. I request that my family’s privacy is respected.  This website, and all campaigns associated with it, are part of my journey not theirs. I’ve chosen this public advocacy path, and in doing so I do not, and will not, parade my children, partner, nor parents at any time. I respectfully request that they are not engaged in any way nor their identities disclosed.
  2. Readers of this website are reminded that you do not have to agree with anything that is written here. I present my story and my thoughts in good faith. I am motivated to document my thoughts as a way to order my thinking and contribute to the debate on how to address the pressing issues of our time. As a reader you can agree, disagree, be indifferent, take away something, or take away nothing. Regardless of what you take away, I thank you for taking the time to read the vibrant nation website.
  3. Many of the ideas shared here have a long history of being discussed and pursued in the context of political change. I’m not suggesting that people haven’t thought about nor been seeking to progress the same issues for generations, if not centuries.
  4. I am committed to a simple philosophy: work hard, stay humble. Should I be seen to deviate from this, you are invited to contact me and tell me to pull my finger out or pull my head in.
  5. I’m seeking social, economic, racial and environmental change in pursuit of a fairer more sustainable world for all. This is underpinned at all times by the pursuit of the eradication of all causes of unnecessary suffering.
  6. I’m human. I don’t know it all (far from it) and I make mistakes (lots of them). All errors and omission on this website are mine. If you draw my attention to a mistake and it is confirmed, I will seek to correct the error(s) promptly.
  7. My evolving world view is informed by a commitment to the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, and related Charters. I have never followed any religion.
  8. The autobiographical sections of this website are shared in good faith to enable readers to gain some insight into what influences my evolving world views. Users will readily identify all autobiographical vignettes as they are each accompanied with a unique coloured image of a brick wall. The images of bricks, all captured by me in my travels, are inspired by Pink Floyd’s song, “Another Brick in The Wall”, released in 1979. Additionally, each vignette begins with the title, “This one time…”. Yes, this opening phrase was inspired by the line spoken by the character, Michelle Flaherty, played by Alyson Hannigan, in the film American Pie (1999). She says, “This one time, at band camp, I stuck a flute in my….”
  9. The images of the sky are a nod toward what many of us do when we are thinking. We tilt our head, look upward and outward and ponder.
  10. The opening phrase, “The one about…”, was inspired by the naming convention for each of the 236 episodes of “Friends” TV series.
