The one about looking after oneself

Rath’s Eat Move Sleep

Summary:

Tom Rath’s book and the mindset it promotes is concerned with the pursuit of enhanced health and wellbeing. In contrast to other books or programs that focus on a single diet of workout in isolation, Rath invites reader to reflect on their health, and more precisely their decisions and their behaviour. Rath suggests that through reflection and then action – even small actions, across the three interconnected elements of eating, movement and sleeping-   – significant gains in health can be made.

Real world application:

Over eating, or cravings that lead to eating too much of foods that aren’t particularly good for us, can often occur when we have not slept well or long enough. Focusing on sleep hygiene, particularly a reduction in the use of electronic equipment prior to bedtime, can enhance sleep, leading to higher energy levels (less tired), and less carvings.
