paul strongly advocates for decisive action to increase all major income support payments in Australia,  and to lift an estimated 3.3million people, including over 760,000 children out of poverty.

paul believes poverty in Australia is a policy choice. The Federal Government can choose to increase payments and end child poverty. paul advocates for income support payments that keep individuals above the poverty line, ensuring a basic standard of living for all Australians.

Arguments are made to delay increases in payments to the most vulnerable Australians on economic grounds. This is a choice of priorities. Tax concessions worth tens of billions each year go the wealthy, while the poorest in our country are left to languish in poverty.

Aligned to the long running Raise the Rate for Good campaign by the Australian Council of Social Services (ACOSS), paul calls for increases in support payments to immediately alleviate poverty and ensure everyone has enough to cover the essentials of life.

paul understands that the COVID supplement (a $550 per fortnight payment) paid to recipients of Centrelink payments during the pandemic lifted 650,000 people, including 120,000 children, above the poverty line instantly.
